The ReLife Paper Mill division makes cardboard and paperboard for cores, spiral tubes, in-line tubes and cardboard for cones and cardboard edge protectors using secondary raw materials from the sorting facilities of the Recycling division at the Bosco Marengo paper mill.
The synergy between the ReLife Recycling division and Paper Mill division demonstrates a circular economy in practice with industrial integration aimed at generating maximum value in the recycling chain.
FACILITIES AND PRODUCTION
The Recycling division facilities start the process by collecting and recycling recoverable waste from private-owned industries, municipalities and consortia. The Paper Mill division uses the secondary raw material from the facilities, in particular cardboard, paper and kraft cardboard mixes, ensuring a more efficient and controlled supply chain within a radius of fewer than 100 kilometres for the production of paperboard tubes and interlayers.
By processing 125,000 tonnes of cellulose-based secondary raw materials from the division’s facilities, ReLife Paper Mill produces 120,000 tonnes of new products and 14,000 reels every year.
TECHNOLOGICAL INVESTMENTS
The Paper Mill division stands out on the market for its industrial choices and the continual investments in technology for implementing green policies. State-of-the-art facilities have been installed for generating electrical and thermal energy and for water purification, reducing air pollution and limiting the dependence on fossil fuels.
Mixed non-recyclable plastics from the paper mill pulper and the sorting of plastics from the Recycling division’s facilities implement the last stage of the circular economy. It consists of the production of SSF (REACH-certified Solid Secondary Fuel) for use in Italian and European cement works in the ReFuel facility.
